Mantic Games, the folks behind Kings of War have brought back a classic dungeon crawling adventure. Last year, Mantic had a successful Kickstarter to bring back Dungeon Saga Origins.

The game is for 1-5 players with a suggested age of 10 and up. This game is for someone that is for the combat and fantasy of a table top roleplaying game with the tactile feel of a board game. Its also a chance to give your DM a break, or if they are a forever DM they can play the role of the Overlord. The game is also a nice entry for someone who is considering a TTRPG, but isn’t ready to make the jump in to theater of the mind.

I reviewed a pre-Kickstarter version of the game. If the quality has remained consistent, the miniatures are in line with the quality of Mantic’s other games. The base game has 4 heroes and 18 enemies. The miniatures come unpainted. Depending on your personal perspective that can be a pro or a con. If you are in the wargaming space, I think you will like the option to come up with your own paint scheme. A traditional board game fan, might be disappointed that they heroes are all gray. More class options would be nice, but I think the game strikes a nice balance of options, but not being so large as to be cost prohibitive.
